Independent testing

Independently tested by Applus+

In October 2026, Applus+, an international testing and inspection company, tested a QuenchSea 3.0 at In5 Tech in Dubai. Their inspector checked how the unit is built, ran it on seawater and sent samples of the seawater and the water it produced to Wimpey Laboratories. The overall result was a pass with comments.

7.5 L/hr
Fresh water measured (about 2 US gal/hr)
97.9%
Less total dissolved solids (TDS)
98%
Less chloride and sodium
Not detected
E. coli, coliforms and Legionella in the output

What Applus+ checked

The body, hoses and seals, the lever, foot pad and pump, whether it holds pressure without leaking, and whether the pre-filter and membrane come out and go back in cleanly. Every mechanical check passed. Two items were noted to follow: product labelling with model and serial number, and marking the inlet and outlet so they can't be swapped.

What the report also says

This was the first independent test of QuenchSea 3.0, run on Gulf seawater near Dubai at 42,194 mg/L TDS. That is saltier than typical ocean water, which is around 35,000 mg/L. The output measured 902 mg/L. That is above the 600 mg/L limit in the regional water-quality regulation Applus+ compared it with, and chloride, sodium and potassium were also above that regulation's limits. Applus+ recommends further optimisation and a repeat test. Always check the output with a TDS pen before you drink it, and don't drink it if you're unsure it has been properly desalinated.

Questions

About the test

Who are Applus+?

Applus+ is an international testing, inspection and certification company. Their inspector ran this test, and Wimpey Laboratories analysed the water samples.

Is this a certification?

No. It is an independent inspection and test report. It records how the unit performed on the day it was tested and what Applus+ recommends next.

Does this mean the water is safe to drink?

Not on its own. The results apply to the samples tested, and the output was above some drinking-water limits for dissolved salts. Check the output with a TDS pen every time you use it.

Are the limits in the report the same everywhere?

No. The limits Applus+ used come from a regional water-quality regulation, not an international standard. The World Health Organization has not set a health-based limit for TDS in drinking water. Its guidance treats TDS as a matter of taste: below about 600 mg/L water generally tastes good, and above about 1,000 mg/L it becomes increasingly unpalatable. Taste also depends on which minerals are dissolved. The 902 mg/L measured here sits between those two points.
